Rome is a photographer’s dream, with all the people, architecture, ruins……….I wish you could go with me to the Piazza Navona, where artists sell their paintings and people meander around with ice cream, coffee or wine. I loved sitting at little open air cafe that faced the Piazza watching it all unfold, almost like a watching a dance. We got to watching this one group of guys who sold “designer” purses. Some of the group disappeared down the street and one or two would place this dirty blanket on the cobblestones, then they would lay some of the purses on the blanket and held others on their outstretched arms like a scarecrow . They talked to all the ladies walking by, telling them “how great this would look on them”, and other such sales talk. I looked away for one second to order a wine and looked back and they was gone! Man, blanket, purses……all gone, poof. A few seconds later a handsome Italian policeman strolled by (it’s a rule in Italy that all of its’ policeman absurdly handsome!!). As soon as the policeman went by, the group would be back and the whole thing started all over again. Free entertainment and wine!!
