This is what greeted us when we got to Skyline Park on the outskirts of Napa on Monday! At first glance I thought we were getting ready to see a scuffel, but of course I figured out they’re fake. However that wasn’t before I took the picture! HA!!
Anyway, back the purpose of my post. My time in Napa is coming to a end…bummer! I miss Running Man, so it’s time to head home but not before PA Daughter and I spend one last day doing something, ah, athletic? (remember, we’re doing a half marathon beginning of May) We settled on a hike through Skyline Park.
It was sort of a foggy/hazy day so the views were crystal, but still beautiful on top of the hills. We started off slow cause the hike was straight up, I was short of breath before I knew it. I immediately started thinking of how hard the trip down was going to be. Since it was a week day we had the trails all to ourselves, except for a couple of mountain bikers whizzing by. (scared the daylights out of me when I heard the sound before I saw the bike…bears, mountain lions, oh and a turkey…)
We saw some beautiful views and loads of wild flowers, including bluebonnets which are illegal to pick in Texas. PA Daughter got a big kick out of being the Rebel that she always is and picked just one. (not really, but still a cute pic)
We walked along playing a word game to get our mind off the 8 mile hike…You pick a word, like eh, Sunset and then you have to come up with a song that uses that word. We sang our way down the trail. Close to the bottom we found Jacob (you know, Twilight’s Jacob?) guarding the entrance to cave. Truly awesome sight.
We had a great day, I’m sad it’s over but excited to see Running Man. Time to get back to reality, sort of.
